INFORMATION
The Petroleum Club of Long Beach / LA is
a private social club. In 1953, two men had a dream of a place
where men in the oil industry could come and socialize. This
led to the forming of the Petroleum Club of Long Beach. In
the years following, many doctors, lawyers, and other businessmen
also began to join the Club due to it’s great social
activities. These early activities included the 1959 MISS
UNIVERSE CONTEST.
The Club began, in 1955, by using the second
floor of Rickarts’ Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. Discovering
quickly that the Club needed larger facilities, the current
property was purchased and construction began September 25,
1957. The Grand Opening Party was held on May 17, 1958 with
Master of Ceremonies none other than RUDY VALLEE.
The Petroleum Club features two rooms for
dinner dances. The Grand Ballroom, which seats up to 400 guests
with a permanent 25’ x 40’ dance floor, and the
Terrace Room, which seats up to 200 guests with a permanent
20’ x 30’ dance floor. We also feature two meeting
room which will accommodate under 40 guests.
One of our special features here at the Club
is the Olympic size swimming pool. The reason this pool is
a special is the specially designed shallow end which starts
at only 1.5 feet. With this shallow end from 1.5 to 3 ft.
in depth, this creates a perfect area for small children to
play and enjoy the pool safety.
We are not only a private membership club
but are also able to cater outside events such as Weddings
Receptions and Ceremonies, Birthday Parties, Business Meetings
/ Luncheons / Dinners, Poolside BBQ, Pool Parties. Our catering
staff has years of experience handling such events. We have
two families in which all three of their daughters have had
their wedding receptions here at the Club.
The Club offers:
• Lunch served between 11:30 am and 2:00 pm Monday
thru Friday
• Dinner served between 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm Wednesday
thru Friday
• Family Buffet Dinner 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm the 1st &
3rd Sunday of the month
• T.G.I.F. last Friday of the month with a 2 for 1 Dinner
and special drink prices
• Monthly Theme Dinner Dance or Entertainment
• Active Women’s Club meeting 1st Wednesday of
month
• Annual Golf Tournament
• Children's Christmas Party
• Duplicate Bridge
• Other special events throughout the year
• Family Night Dinner and children’s activities

All members ( except Windows and Non-Residents
) are responsible for a food & beverage minimum charge
of $75.00 per quarter. This amount applies to all food &
beverages charged to your account in a quarter, if you do
not use this amount you will be billed the difference.
Gratuity is not automatic but at the members
discretion. If gratuity is not stated, an automatic 15% is
added to the bill.
Refer to your Pipeline magazine for the schedule
of events each month.

NON-EQUITY MEMBERSHIPS
We are now offering a special type of memberships
called NON-EQUITY MEMBERSHIPS. For only a memberships fee
of $ 150.00 you can become a Non-Equity Member and enjoy the
Clubs great facilities without having to pay monthly dues.
Non-Equity Members are responsible for a food & beverage
minimum of $75.00 per quarter.
At the beginning of September you will be
given an opportunity to join the Club for a great price as
a full member or renew your membership. NON-EQUITY MEMBERSHIPS
include use of all Club facilities EXCEPT the swimming pool*.
Members are allowed to use either credit cards or monthly
billing for food and beverage purchases.
NON-EQUITY MEMBERSHIPS ARE NON-EQUITY, NON-VOTING,
NON-RECIPROCAL USE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE.
Present Members ( as of March 15, 1996 )
are not eligible for this type of membership.
